How I found myself

Start here or see the diagram.

My unexpected future.

From an early age, giving advice was one of my strongest abilities. I never thought that this could help me find my purpose in life. But, it has positively affected my future plans; because what particularly captivated me was the way the human mind actually works. After a couple of years studying in psychology, I have graduated from the University of Montreal (UdeM). I have been very confused these days. I don't know if I am ready or not yet to start working in this field. I am currently hesitating if I should start working in a secondary school or in another country as a psychoeducator or to continue working as a full-time job at the National Bank.

Choice 1: I decided to work in a highschool as a psychoeducator.
Choice 2: I decided to work in Germany as a psychoeducator.
Choice 3: I decided to work a full-time job at the National Bank.

Choice 1.

Becoming a psychoeducator was the best choice I have ever made. A psychoeducator has to help students get through their school or personal problems. The students can have some difficulties in interacting with people and adapt to their entourage. I have experienced a similar situation with one student not a long time ago. He was shy and his social abilities were not very strong because of it. One day, I asked him to come see me in my office after school. I started by asking him why he was always alone and not speaking to other students. He told me that he was afraid of rejection because he was bullied in his previous school. After speaking with him for an hour, the next day, I saw him laughing with his comrades. At this moment, I knew that this career was made for me. I started to enjoy working around students because I could see the results in their actions. The way they think makes me even more curious to learn about their intentions. On the other hand, I am well seen from the students. They like to entrust me, and sometimes, they just pass by my office only to salute me. This is why I try my best to improve myself every day and so I can find better ways to help the students.

Choice 2.

Living in Germany was one of my childhood dreams. I wanted to work there for a long time. I waited until I get my scholarship in psychology. When I got my diploma and applied to work in Germany, in the next few weeks, I got a call and got a job there. I left the country and fly to Germany the next day. My contract was going to start in one week, so I took advantage of it to visit a little bit the country. My first week of work wasn't how I expected it. The students were bent on me, and the interaction with them wasn't really good. They were always coming into my office to laugh at me and tell me how boring I was. One day, when a girl was walking next to me, she purposely put her foot in front of me to make me fall. All the students were laughing at me. I left the school in tears, but the next day, I still went to work. My boss knew what happened, so he called me by the intercoms to come visit him in his office. He told me that this was a test. He wanted to know if I could support the tension and still continue to work. He smiled at me, shook my hand and gave me a bonus of $500. Since that day, I knew that there will always be some worst situations, but I have to stay strong and face it. Lesson of the week; " Do good and good will come to you "(Anonym).

Choice 3.

I've been working at the National Bank as a credit cards seller for three years now. I like this job because I make so much money. What is better than making money and not worrying about how much you spent in total this month? I have a lot of advantages by working in this bank. First of all, I have dental insurance, travel insurance, mortgage loan insurance, car insurance and many more. Second of all, a little percentage of the money I make every month is taken from my pay check and is transferred into my saving account. By the end of the year, I save a lot of money this way. I can then take it and place it into my bank chequing account. Is it not fantastic? I keep making money without considering it. Also, if I sell a good quantity of credit cards, I could get a bonus for my hard work. But, in another hand, even though I got my diploma in psychology and applied in many schools, I still did not get any answers. These days, I keep asking myself if it's better to continue working at the National Bank, as a full-time job. Is it what I really want? I'm very confused. I really like my job, but I don't know if I want to do this kind of job for the rest of my life. I know that I have not lost all of those years studying really hard to finish working in a bank. Maybe money isn't the problem. Maybe, it is happiness. I want to feel passionnate, as I'm not working to make money, but only using my professionality to help people around me and be " rewarded " that way.

'' A Day in the Life of a Psychologist ''

There are some psychologists, as educators, counselors and researchers who teach or conduct a research and perform examinations. These psychologists are often described by studying all the aspects of the mind. They have a goal which is the private practice. They see patients in their weekend and evening hours, which means they have a busy schedule because their help is really demanding. As they are their own boss, psychologists usually work alone and have fixed hours. For some psychologists, they don’t see their job as a routine but more like a hobby because they enjoy their time spending with their patients.

If someone wants to become a psychologist, they have to plan to stay in school for five or seven years, which it depends if the student wants to do a doctoral degree. To accomplish this degree, the student has to do a research. The courses needed before doing this research is quantitative research methods, statistics and computers. Each student who wants to have a job in clinics or counselling setting has to do training where he will be supervised. Also, there are some academic programs that require experiencing psychoanalysis training. The student has to do some licensing exams, like essay or oral exams to see if he has the knowledge and the necessary qualities to be in this field. However, the student can find jobs without doing a doctoral, but he will be supervised by a professional psychologist. Those who have a bachelor’s degree in psychology have fewer options but they can work as psychologists’ assistants and other parts of the mental health studies. Then, we can see that graduating from school leads the student in a good way of professionalism.

A philosopher, named Rene Descartes has separate human timescales in two categories which are the voluntary and the involuntary where the field of psychology is a part of the involuntary nature. Psychology helps to go further with all the educational and correctional surroundings by helping people to solve their problems. The attention and support of a psychologist have positive impacts in the human being’s because he will make sure that his patient don’t make a depression or have disappointments.

How to find the information you need about low sexual desire

Psychology Today

Psychology Today is an American magazine founded by psychologist’s Nicolas Charney in 1967. Charney began this magazine by frustration: some psychologists made their work inaccessible to the general public. Psychology Today’s online version offer to people directories of professionals in mental health and blogs written by a variety of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and many more. This website is made for people who need some advice about their life-situations, motivation to provide emotional support and comfort. To have access at this website, you don’t need a membership. It is free to use and there is no limited time. Besides, Psychology Today was the second top consumer magazine from June 2010 to June 2011, by newsstand sales. It was owned and managed by the American Psychological Association where the publication is currently endorsed by the National Board for Certified Counselors. Each article read, the magazine promotes subscriptions and gets professional credit for a small fee.

This website is related to my field of study because it gets you informed about everything in psychology. You can search and find all the information you need to know about it. For example, you can look for any topic based on psychology to learn more about its causes or consequences. You can also find therapists, psychiatrists, treatment facilities and therapy groups.

In this video, I will do a walkthrough demonstrating how to find the information you need about low sexual desire.

Three Most Important Concepts to Be Happy

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Psychology#/media/File:Maslow%27s_Hierarchy_of_Needs.svg

There is a saying by Marcus Aurelius that says, "The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts", which means that the way people think might affect their life decisions. Did you know that psychology is a study of mind and behavior? It includes mental health treatment, performance enhancement, self-help, ergonomics, and many other areas that can affect the health and the daily life. There are three different ways to be happy. It all starts by the mood of the person, their self-esteem and their motivation.

1- The mood; a concept very important to happiness

First of all, the concept of being happy is related to the mood of the person. People who have negative thoughts are more likely to feel discouraged or unhappy. The best way to keep a positive mind is to think about what is keeping us in the right mood. For instance, it can be the entourage. The people we meet every day can affect our mood because we share everything together. If those people make us feel negative emotions, the best way to put an end to it is to remove them from our life. Nobody needs someone who makes them feel unloved, miserable or unwanted. Then, to keep us in the right mood, we have to face those people and tell them what we really feel in order to feel better. Also, if we are having a bad day, the best way to feel free and relaxed is to empty our mind. There are some good ways to let off our steam like practicing a sport or listening to music. Constructive criticism can change a person in many ways if they choose to. In this case, to keep our good mood, we have to think about the positive aspects of each of these alternatives. If we talk about school, we can tell ourselves that it's going to lead us to success. Education is great because after we graduate we will be able to make a lot of money and enjoy life to the fullest. About work, we have to think that it's a good experience for our future and it helps us make money to finance our education and other expenses. Indeed, the mood is a very important concept related to happiness, which controls our life decisions.

2- What is self-esteem?

Second of all, happiness is also based on self-esteem. Self-esteem is the perception that we have of ourselves. It contains three sides: the real self (who I am), the ideal self (who I want to be) and the forced self (social expectations from me). Self-esteem has two functions where it tries to avoid social exclusion and it tries to defend from fear. It can also prevent someone from having anguish, which is the mental or physical pain. Self-esteem has three covariates. There is the low self-esteem, which is the fear of failure, anxiety if there's criticism, abandon if there's difficulty and unsatisfactory interpersonal relationships. The adequate self-esteem presents perseverance, feeling of personal efficacy, satisfactory interpersonal relationships and capacity of function in front of evaluation. The excessive self-esteem is about defensive reactions which can turn into arrogance, unsatisfactory relationships and inadequacy in front of criticism. To conclude, self-esteem is the most important thing in a human being’s life because it brings out the best and worst part of a person. Self-esteem has a direct effect on one's personality. To be happy in life, you need a balanced self esteem: there are times where we can be very confident and there are times where are not so confident. We can see that a good self-esteem is the key to happiness.

3- You lost motivation? Try this!

Third, motivation is a concept that is very important to take into consideration. It guides and maintains our life-goals. It is what causes people to do something in their lives. For example, if someone has a goal that means a lot to them, they will realize that simply having the desire to accomplish something isn't enough. To achieve something, we need to be able to persist through obstacles and to have endurance to keep going no matter how hard it gets. There are three components to motivation. The first one is activation, which involves the decision to initiate a behavior. The second one is persistence, which is to keep going no matter what kind of obstacle is thrown in our way. The third one is intensity, which can be seen in the concentration that goes into the pursuit of the goal. Also, motivation comes from instincts, needs and arousal levels. We can see that sometimes; the motivation is there but mentally we aren't really there. However, there are some ways to keep our motivation alive. It can come from people, where we can be pushed by someone or simply by following idol directives and many others. All of that depends on each individual's goals. There is a saying by George McFly that says, "If you put your mind into it, you can accomplish anything. " The truth is, anything in life is possible, we just have to see the bright side of things and that's how motivation can grow every day.

In summary, being happy is based on the mood where it comes from people criticism. Self-esteem, that comes from the perception that we have in ourselves, and motivation which is based on the pursuit of our life goals. Every person can contribute in their own ways to be happy. With time, effort and dedication, happiness can last longer.
